Gosh!

It has been a hectic few months but we are in our new home and settling in slowly!
I have been missing in blog land for a little while.

Here is a quick summary of the last month...

We took some days off to finish packing, we were so organised that the day before we moved we went out for the day as our house was box city!

Then the fateful call, someone along the line stuffed up and we would not be settling on the Friday as planned. So after many stressful phone calls back and forth we were able to move in under an agreement. Because this was a drawn out process we didn't get the keys til 3.00pm, aggh!

This was a highly stress situation and quite upsetting, it cost us about $1000 extra as well. I am a fairly organized person and do tend to do things myself so I know they will get done, however in buying a house you have to put your life in someone else's hands.

In the end we got in and had everything here by 8.30 that night!

The first thing I did was clean as the house hadn't been cleaned and then unpack the kitchen.

Thanks Dad, expert truck packer!

The next job was to remove the unattractive decorative curtains either and horror show sheers!

Decorative curtains (in every room)

These actually look cooler in the photo. Baby blue, floral flocked sheers!

The pile of horror.

Don't get me wrong, i am not opposed to a brocade curtain, but we are in our 20s and they aged the rooms too much.
I am not ruling out a decorative feature curtain but will wait til I redo each room.

I will share some more photos soon.
Today I have been working on a little cupboard I purchased for our bathroom which I will show you once I have finished!

10 things...

10 things I will miss about my old house:

1: Living next to a church/ church hall
No not because it makes me closer to god, but there are several groups that practice there as well as a ballet group where someone plays the piano.
Tonight is a beautiful night and i'm laying in be listening to a beautiful men's choir. I feel like im in an old movie

2: Being really close to town
It's way easier to walk/ ride to the shops than drive. This is really awesome especially at christmas!

3: The coziness of our little house
It's lovely living closely when there is just two of you.

4: Two mirrors in the bathroom
Do i need to say anything more

5: Our landlord Steve
He mows, gardens, fixes stuff and even pops in for a beer at Christmas, awesome guy

6: Great space for parties
many parties have been hosted in the two years we have been here.

7: The courtyard garden
Its a private space that gets both morning and afternoon sun for lazying like a cat in all year round

8: The floorboards
I really swoon over a quality timber floor

9: The large kitchen
I enjoy cooking and baking so much appreciated. When we looked for places we found an amazing waterfront apartment which had a kitchen that only one person and a bar fridge could fit in.

10: It is our first home together.
One of my friends said she always felt at home in our house, the best home compliment a person could be paid!

terrible photo, I will aim to get a better one tomorrow!

Weekend treasures

I hope you had a sweet weekend!
We have had amazing sunny Autumn days so I soaked up a few rays over the weekend.
I did some building with my dad, caught up with friends, did some house shopping and got locked out, whoops!

I hit up a few place around town with my sister including the shed off pako, the mill markets, Ashby House and a little shop in Queesncliff who's name I have forgotten!

I had a bit of a win everywhere, here is what I got...

Oldish nesting tables... they had flat screws.

New set of nesting tables! Not sure what colour to paint them

A vintage mirror
Bifold mirror for my bedroom dress

Tea set
New tea set with tea cups, milk creamer and sugar bowl, cake plate and teapot. The shop wrapped it so I only unwrapped one cup as we are moving in less than two weeks!

At Ashby house I purchased two quirky armchairs and an amazing yellow mirror...photos to come. I will pick them up after I move!

The wind picked up in the arvo and blew  the front door shut...lucky the window was open!
